Global Simultaneous Creative Collaboration: “Playing For Change

One thing that I love about teleconferencing in all its forms (including telesminars, teleclasses, teletrainings, telecoaching, etc.) is how easily it is to connect, communicate and collaborate in real time with people in disparate geographical areas.

I just learned today about “Playing For Change” – an organization dedicated to improving communities around the globe by doing collaborative music projects with established musicians.

The Playing For Change mission is to raise money, help build schools, connect students, and inspire communities in need through music, around the world.

Playing For Change has created an award-winning documentary: “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music,” from which they are releasing individual songs.

The first (featured in this video from YouTube, below) is a cover of the Ben E. King classic “Stand By Me” (a personal favorite) by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it travelled the globe.

Other songs that they’ll be releasing as digital downloads in early 2009 include “One Love,” which will be followed by the film soundtrack and DVD early next year.
